My so called life....
House
Finally, we went to settlement Monday afternoon and we are now homeowner's!!!! Yeah!!! I am so happy, the seller is still in the home because he is moving to Georgia and he is trying to settle on his new home. He payed rent for 30days so he has until January 11th or before (guess which one I am hoping for?). The best thing about a new home is......SHOPPING. I don't know if i told you guys/gals but I have to buy everything anew anyway because my place flooded in July and we lost our sofa and dining room set so I can't wait.
Clappy
I finished the clapotis for by bf aunt and she loved it. The only problem is, I finished like the day of and I didn't have a chance to take many pictures or of it on her, so I will have to get her to take a picture of it.
However, I do have some and here it is.

Clapotis - clapotis - oh how I love to knit thee
My clapotis is going quite well. I love knitting this scarf/shawl - so much so, that I can't believe I was so intimidated at first, by the pattern. Learning new techniques are fun (thanks to knittinghelp.com), i.e. yarn over, knit front and back loop and above all dropping stitches. I was so scared to drop it in the beginning because I kept saying if I drop it, and it is not the right one, I don't know how to begin again, without starting from the beginning. But, that was not the case and I can see so much progress. I want to make href="http://www.knitty.com/issuefall04/pattclapotis.html">Clapotis
clapotis in every color and fabric. I think I might save and make mine with Blue Sky Alpaca. A lady at my LYS, Stitch D.C. on Capitol Hill, did hers in a canary yellow color and it was just FABULOUS!!!
I will send a picture of my progress later.

Confessions of a cheater
Shhhh don't tell anyone!!!
Patterns everywhere may hear you. I was in denial for a long time. I thought I was a one project woman. I have come to the realization that I am a cheat, a user. The eyes and hands are weak. I get my fill and than I am on to the next young thing.
I don't know what to do!!! Should I seek help? Yarn or knitaholics. What is a fun loving knitrix to do. I am even prone to pimping my hobby out to others. I am just a very sick individual. I am in love with colors and the prospect of something new.
Dilemma, dilemmas - I can't knit Starsky forever, I have become bored and complacent. So, I found someone new, young and vivacious - Clapotis. What a looker, I have even tried to come up with excuses for my behavior but I can't. She is so beautiful and seductive. Just wicked, I am using Artyarn Supermerino to enhance my addiction.
Well, I am knitting it as a gift, does that justify the cheating behavior?
Pics to follow - will I be in put in the same category as Kevin Federline?

Fall foliage in Washington, DC
Fall is here in the city!!! I am so excited. I was waiting for my personal limo (V5 metrobus) to go to work downtown and while waiting I spotted this beautiful tree in all it's glory. Fall has definitely arrived and it was so neat to see all of the orange, yellows and reds!! Wow, I love DC in the fall, sometimes it can get really gray and dark and the colors make it look 100% better. I am loving the weather right now. This is perfect knitting weather. Here are pictures of the tree (I took two pics of the same tree) . Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Weekend - Smeekend
This weekend my son Stefon was a drummer in Howard University Homecoming Parade. I was so excited for him. He is in the band at his school and he did a great job - if I may say so!!! It was a good turn out and his dad was so proud of him. I thought he was going to chase him through the parade. His aunts were just as bad, I will upload pictures at a later date.
This homeownership process is working my last nerve. I am trying to stay positive, but I am getting sick of the classes and the run around. These people are suppose to be working for you and it don't seem like it sometimes. I want to say f*&k it, but I know it will benefit our family. I guess I will be more appreciative once the house is mine.

Promises, promises - Mountains, Starsky, Spa & Sock Wars
Hello fellow non readers,
Here is a list of things I have done in the past two weeks.
Mountains
The last weekend of September was my boyfriends b-day and we decided to go back to the mountains (went in July) at Wintergreen Resorts (Blue Ridge Mountains) in Virginia. Living in Washington, DC can be very hectic and stressful sometimes, so it was nice to slow down a little and enjoy the beautiful view and amenities the resort has to offer. We went with another couple (his aunt and her partner). We had a ball in front of the fireplace and staying up late playing cards and enjoying each other company and of course plenty of alcohol. On the last day of the trip we went to the spa and received a couple massage. It was wonderful, it was my boyfriend and I, first massage and we will definitely do it again - it was so peaceful and tranquil. I have always wanted to get a massage and never had the opportunity or kept pushing it back. Look who else decided to ride along to the mountains.
STARSKY (back) & SCARFSTYLE - making a debut in the mountains on the back porch. Scarf style has beautiful scarves, I am just at awe with this book. I am trying to join the knitalong with no success. One day.....
One more mountain picture
SOCK WARS
As mentioned before I lost the war, battle, scuffle - whatever you want to call it. I was killed before even leaving the gates. I still had fun and will definitely do it again. Here is the sock I started for Sheri (couldn't complete, was sent an email declaring my death). I loved this pattern and am thinking about doing some socks for me. Well below, is a pic of it. I will take a picture and upload the killer socks I received in the mail.I was known in the sockwar realm as sockwarrior and did poorly, I was deceased before the weekend was over and did not complete one of my socks. Well here is a picture of the sock I was trying to complete so that I could get Sheri, but it was not meant to be Sk8tgrl got me - I must say a pleasant death, I will upload pictures of the socks later. So, here is my first attempt at sockwars, I will definitely be ready next year.

Damn it - Sk8tegrl has killed me
I am a fallen sock warrior. I got to work this morning and checked my email and low and behold, I get a message from skategirl that I have been killed. Gee, I thought I would at least last another couple of days .
I would show you a picture of the socks, but I don't have them yet. When they arrive, I will post them and let you know if I died a horrible death, or went in my sleep. Either way, I will love my weapon of mass destruction.
Sk8tegrl YOU ROCK!!! Kill all them blimey bastards. Sock Warriors, you better watch out.
May the saga continue - SOCKWARS.

Goodies
Hey, I got some new goodies from Knitpicks, but I didn't take a picture of them yet. I got the Scarfstyle book that I have been wanting for so very long!!! I also got some yarn to make the Ene's scarf (shawl) and a scarf for by bo who never request anything, but really like how the scarf looks. Can't wait. will send a pic soon.
Maryland Wine Festival
Hey, I was suppose to submit this last week and didn't get a chance to. I went to the MD wine festival and it was excellent. It was my first wine festival and me and my bo went with his aunt and her partner. We really enjoyed ourselves. Especially, observing people. The music was great, the food was excellent. I ate a MD lump crabcake for $7 that is unheard of and it was delicious with no fillers.
Okay, now the people observation. There are many people who can control their alcohol. By the time we left the festival people were wasted and the best part ---- There were MD highway patrol doing breatlizers on people and some were happy to say how high they scored as if they were taking the SAT, LSAT or GRE. A couple of frat guys got into a fight and I am like what the @#$%!!!
So, that was an experience and we can't wait to do it again. I think we are going to go to the big one they are going to have in October. What was also great about the outing is we made plans to go to the mountains as a group on the 29th. Back to Wintergreen and we can hit some wineries on the way; when me and my boyfriend went in July we past six or seven wineries.

Starsky Update
Finally, here is an update picture of the famous Starsky. Okay, so I am still working on the back, but I am very proud of myself for trying to do a sweater. This is the back and this is my first time doing cables so I am versy excited. I really have to have my son look at the camera because the lighting and everything is horrible. I really don't know what I am doing, if I use the flash it blinds the thing and the only way I can take it is with out the flash. So, I am hoping t get the back done this week or at least before Sock Wars start because I am a combatant and I want to be prepared when my orders arrive. I guess I should go and order my needles and I think I am going to order the book Scarf styles, I love the designs in there and I think it is worth it. I find that it is rare to find so many nice patterns in one place. Tell next time.
Ignorance on HIV and AIDS in 2006
I can't believe people are really still very ignorant about AIDS. There are still people out there who think they can tell if somone has it or not by their behavior and how they look.
My best friend who is a nurse, was talking with this guy (her husband cousin) and they were talking about how he is always chasing after women and she told him she hopes he is being careful and he stated, "yeah, I know if someone has AIDS or not" and she said, "oh, yeah, how?" This fool said, if a girl gives it up to him immediately than she has it and that if a woman is dirty than she has it. I am like WHAT is he stuck in the 80's. I mean with all the education and stuff out there it is amazing that this 30 something almost 40 year old male is so ignorant. He really believes he can tell!!!! You can't tell if someone is HIV positive, some may be able to tell if someone has full blown AIDS, but no one should be trying to guess. I am just going to leave this alone for now, but can you believe this?

Starsky
Well, I have started the Starsky and I have chosen Knitpicks Sierra in Bud. I love bright colors and I chose this color because in the fall and winter it can get pretty gray and black and I like to add some color to my wardrobe so that it is not that boring. Well, I think I went to bright. I am still knitting the sweater and I hope once it is complete it won't be too, too bright.
Here is the ball I wound up while on the 32 busline, for those who don't know that is the bus that runs through the city into Georgetown, all the way up to Chevy Chase. I had to take this bus to work and it was a good thing I did because it took me a while to wind 1 ball. This is not a really clear picture. You might be able to see it more when I show my WIP. I am almost at the three inches of rib and than the real fun will start.
I have been practicing the cable pattern and I think I have it, you have to really concentrate though. I think my lunch break is over, I should get back to who pays me so that I can buy that Knitpicks set of needles and the Scarf in Style book.
See yah!

Knitting Community
WOW!!!
I finally feel confident as a knitter to join knitalongs and post questions/opinions after two years of knitting. It's amazing, I have been knitting for awhile now and I have seen numerous projects in progress/completed and I felt like I would probably never get to that level. Now I feel like I belong just like everyone else. I think I have joined three knitalongs this month and am waiting to join one more when it is open. I hope I am not taking on too much, but I don't think so, my life revolves around pressure and stress - I am a urban kntrix, I will survive!!!
Knitters rock on!!

Joy and Pain
Joy
Washington weather is so fickle....but today it is just gorgeous outside. It feels so good, I ate lunch outside today. So you know what that meant, knitting time!!!! it felt good to enjoy the weather without sweating and wondering if I may need a homeless person give me mouth to mouth because I have fallin out in 115 degree weather. Also, Knitty summer surprise has been release - all of this for me.
Pain
Okay, so i am enjoying the weather and knitting and I realize I will need one more skein to finish the shrug, so I have to stop knitting so that I have something to do one the bus - bummer... I can see the end so clearly.....and yet no yarn. I have to finish the shrug before my yarn comes for starsky. I can't wait to start on it. Any day now. Knit Pick Gods do you hear me?!?!
I know, I know, I have a lot to learn.

Update
Ladies and Gents,
Here is a picture of the circular shrug. I am loving the way the garment is knitting up, but I must confess my arms are becoming very tired and my hands are starting to cramp. I believe my hands are hurting because the garment is becoming heavy and I need to find a way to relax and knit. Okay, enough complaining. Also, I am going away this weekend to the Blue Ridge Mountains (yes, I am excited!!! can you tell?) and I believe the Shrug will look wonderful with the dress if I can finish my Friday. Watch me work!!!

Circular Shrug
Hey peeps. I am a knitrix and I have been knitting for the past two years and I am proud to join the knitsters that blog. Past projects consists of: scarves, socks from the toe up on circular needles, adult booties on dpn and an unfinished baby blanket. Project in progress right now is a circular shrug.
I am also teaching my best friend how to knit which is very exciting. My daughter is also a knitrix which is pretty cool.
